basically to make this shorter, she broke her rib, it punctured her lung, so she had to have an emergency operation. she was loosing blood, heart rate was slowing down. minutes/hours later, she was unconscious, and on a life support machine that was wrecking her nerves in her spinal cord, which are linked to her brain. they told us that she'd be paralysed, and have amnesia. she doesnt remember her boyfriend which she has known since she was 4. she cant remember another one of her friends who she spends a lot of time at home with, who she has also known for a very long time. she has only known me 3/4 years, but time doesnt matter, we were the closest of friends, she was my twin, and now she doesnt know who i am,and doesnt remember the things, words, memories, phrases that im telling her. she doesnt even remember my perfume which she had a massive thing about , although she said it was nice :P
the thing is i havent seen her since a day or 2 before this happened. iv been telling her these phrases, memories and blabla by text, and as for the perfume, she smelt that on her boyfriend who put it on him to see if she would remember.
basically, im going to see her tomorow, and i dont know wat to do if she thinks im a desperate wierd girl. shall i write her an essay thing abbout everything? tell me advice please
will her memories come back? soon? how long?My best friend has amnesia. please help.?
I'm really sorry to hear this. I can't imagine how it must feel like to not be able to share the memories and bond between you and her like you once did. I'm really not sure what to say, but if you really were good friends then I believe she'll take the same liking to you then she did when she first met you. You should put together a photo album full of the memories that were lost and maybe write notes about things you did together and the thoughts you shared as well as her boyfriend who I believe must be in real pain. I don't know if things will go back to the way they were but don't give up, if she's really a friend you cherish dearly hold on tight to the memories you shared and don't let them dissapear they're still alive as long as you hold them in your heart. Try and retrace through the past and try everything you can to try and strike a memory, keep repeating phrases, talk about big events. Don't give up, you don't want to lose a best friend over a silly thing like this, your friendship can overcome this, don't give up.My best friend has amnesia. please help.?
Amnesia is a weird thing. Very often, people don't even know what triggers it. Some people get their memory back soon, and other times don't at all. If this case was triggered by nerve damage, it is probably one of the less likely case to recover fully.
More often, the memory recovery is triggered by familiar memories... Stay around with her. Just try and recreate the things you have done with her. Take her to places she has been with you. Say the things you used to say.
It may be hard on you, but persist with it as much as you can.
