How many ounces was your two week old eating?

My son eats expressed breast milk lately he has been to almost three ounces and eats about every three hours...I have mommy amnesia from my first two girls lolHow many ounces was your two week old eating?
I nursed directly at the breast so couldn't measure her intake.



But trust your baby to take what he needs.



The only thing I might recommend is offering a bit more often. 3 hours is a long stretch for a 2 week old -- that's only 8 feeds a day, which is well below the 10-12 you'd expect.



Also, just for the record, is there any specific reason you are exclusivley pumping? Is it possible to work on getting back onto the breast? EPing is very time consuming and tiring, and few mothers are able to continue it for very long. At 2 weeks it's nowhere near too late to work with an LC and teach him to nurse.



EDIT: Ah, ok. The basic answer still applies -- he knows what he needs. He may be taking a bit less at the breast when he nurses -- some babies will eat more from the bottle because they will just finish whatever you put in it. If you're worried that he's taking 'too much' try offering 2 ounces in the bottle and see if he's happy with that. And yes, I'd still be offering a bit more often.
My son was eating 3 oz every two hrs at that age. He never slowed down either lol. He was eating 8 oz bottles, every two hrs at 4 months on.How many ounces was your two week old eating?
he is eating good. my 9 week old ate the same as your son does at that age. she is now at 5oz every 3-4 hours.
is this 24/7...meaning he eats an ounce an hour? 24 ounces in 24 hours?



it sounds a taste higher then some babes i know...my best friend has a 2 month old right now and he nurses so we don't really know the # oz, but he eats every 2 hours without fail (his decision not moms)...i would not be suprised if he gets 2 oz per feeding. he was small at birth (just under 6 lbs) and gained 3lbs the first month...the dr said he was just making up for his size and was really happy he ate that much.



as long as he isn't spitting up, i wouldn't worry...you can't over feed him without him rejecting it!

About 3oz every 2-3 hours.
She was a hogg, it depends on their personal appetite, mine was ready for a full bottle fresh from the womb, but she was accustome to being constantly fed in utero,.. i ate, and ate, and ate.
My baby girl just turned 2 weeks old today and she is drinking 4 oz about every 3 1/2-4 hours. Congrats on the baby!
At 2 weeks Dane was eating about 2-3 oz every 2-4 hours, expressed milk. At 12 weeks he is now taking about 4-5 oz every 3-5 hours.



Mommy amnesia is completely right on...I thought I remembered everything from when my girls were this age but I find myself finding it incredibly difficult to remember things like this with the third one! My brain is still trying to find a place to put all the this stuff! LOL!
